Are you Superstitious? - Layla Amjad 9B

To what extent do people still believe in superstitions? Superstitions are defined as a belief or a way of behaving that is based on fear of the unknown and faith in magic or luck; a belief that certain events or things will bring good or bad luck (Britannica). As a social studies expert, I firmly disbelieve in superstitions due to the unmatched cultural belief systems, faith and fear.
To begin with, cultural belief systems play a huge role in our daily lives, back in the day scientists were unable to determine if a specific myth was true or not, therefore everyone had faith in their luck, although they used to tell each individual about their experiences with an object or a living thing as it did not affect their belief system due to their strong faith, In the “Beware: Do not read this poem “poem a vain women came up after years of surrounding herself with mirrors which lead to her disappearing which also haunted the house and everyone that came into it, which lead the environment to feel fear of getting near that home.
Furthermore, fear is a feeling that all social studies experts would prefer not to feel. A variety of scientists have quit their jobs after many years of experience since they realize things that they have never thought of before doing experiments and testing out methods. “Fear is the main resource of superstitions and one of the main sources of cruelty to conquer fear is the beginning of wisdom” (Russell, Bertrand). Have you ever realized that the amount of people who believe in the black cat myth is more than half of the world’s population? Due to cultural belief systems around the globe and how people began to trust the myth as soon as a group of people shared their experiences
Taking these into consideration. People need to realize how unrealistic superstitions are. I personally disbelieve in myths and superstitions due to the unmatched cultural mindsets, faith and fear.

Interesting how you explained your disbelief in superstitions through faith and fear, and linked them together as well. I liked how you used the black cat example to outline why people believe in superstitions in first place.
